The person behind the practice.

You don't have to have it figured out to reach out.

Background

Background

Born and raised in Wyoming, I'm a licensed independent clinical social worker practicing in Seattle, WA. I earned a Master of Social Work with a concentration in health and mental health from the University of Washington — and before that, a B.A. in Human Rights Studies from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT. I also hold a Certificate in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) from the University of Washington.

I was drawn to mental health and social work through experiences within my own communities — particularly my time doing advocacy for queer and trans individuals in Salt Lake City. That work made it clear to me how much the spaces we move through shape our wellbeing, and how rarely those spaces are designed with everyone in mind. Ryse Therapy exists to be something different: a judgment-free space where you can show up as your authentic self.

My clinical background spans diagnosis and screening, therapeutic relationships, behavioral health, crisis intervention, and training and facilitation. I've had the privilege of working at the UW Autism Center and Crisis Connections — experiences that deepened my commitment to affirming, accessible care for people who have often felt unseen in traditional clinical settings.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and more. I'm especially passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ clients, autistic and neurodivergent individuals, and anyone who has felt like the mental health system wasn't built for them. It was built for you too. You belong here.

What I believe

Values

Equity

Every person is the expert on their own life. My job is to listen — not to lead.

Partnership

Therapy is something we build together. If it's not working, we say so and we adjust.

Worthiness

You are worthy of the life you want. Not after you've fixed yourself — right now, as you are.

My approach

My role is to support you in navigating life, relationships, and mental health — in ways that center your needs and your values.

— Ryan Bolding

I approach therapy through an intersectional, strengths-based lens. Rather than seeing you as a collection of symptoms to be managed, I'm interested in your story — where you've been, what you're carrying, and what you're reaching toward. We'll explore that together, at your pace.

You are welcome to bring yourself as you are. No performance, no polish. I work to create a space that is genuinely affirming — for LGBTQIA+ clients, for autistic and neurodivergent individuals, for people who've experienced trauma, and for anyone who has felt like traditional therapy wasn't designed with them in mind.

Practically, I draw from a range of evidence-based frameworks and tailor them to what works best for you. If something isn't working, we'll say so and adjust. Therapy should feel like something we're building together.
